The CES team of the Daeduk R&D Center has tendered for and won the small-scale distributed co-generation project in early June for the Hanyang apartment complex in Weolpi-dong, Ansan-si. Samsung Everland, Kenertec and other leading domestic companies plunged in the competition, but SK Corporation was selected as the final winner for its highly accumulated technological competence. This grant of the project has increased the total number of projects won this year in the distributed co-generation field to three. Since last year when the co-generation business kicked off, a total of six projects have been granted to SK Corporation, paving the way for an earnest take-off of the business.

Small-scale distributed co-generation refers to the technology to provide heat and electricity simultaneously to customers who need the both by using the small-sized power generation technology. The first project won and completed by SK is the Hyundai Apartment complex in Iksan where the system is now operating without glitch.
Despite short period of business experience, the clear goals have led the team members to achieve the top-class business competitiveness in the field. In the future, on top of the small-scale co-generation business, it will continue to expand the areas of application including small and mid-sized enterprises and commercial buildings. The diversification of fuel sources and the development of proximity power distribution network will be also pursued for strengthening the business capability.
