SKIT received the Outstanding Paper Award for the paper on APU (Advanced Py-Gas Upgrading) technology on November 11 at the 19th Energy Conservation Technology Workshop, organized by Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER).
The award was jointly received by seven researchers including Choi Sun, head of the Chemicals R&D Center. The APU technology is a technology to produce Benzene, Toluene, Xylenes (BTX) and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) using pyrolysis gasoline, a low-priced by-product from the ethylene cracker. SKIT developed such technology for the first time in the world. With the technology, the BTX production cost can be lowered remarkably. SKIT is planning to license the technology in the global market after obtaining the patent. [Kang Shin-cheol, principal researcher, receiving the Outstanding Paper Award] |
