- Partnership is expected to create a synergy by combing infrastructure of a large business with experts technologies of SMEs

Large and small businesses join up to explore the green environment market.

SK Energy (President Koo Ja-Young, www.skenergy.com) said today that it signed a partnership for “large-small business cooperation for mutual green growth” with the Korea Environment Industry & Technology Institute (KEITI) and ten leading environment technology firms to jointly explore the global green environment market.

President of SK Energy Institute of Technology Kim Dong-Sup, President of KEITI Kim San-Gil and 20 heads of leading small and medium enterprises, or SMEs, joined the signing ceremony held at the Ruby Room on the 35th floor of SK Energy building in Seorin-dong, Seoul on the 9th, and agreed to join force to expand into the green business and the global market.

SK Energy and the partners will build a cooperation system to jointly tap into business opportunities in the domestic environment business and the global market by combining the competitive R&D, marketing and extensive network that SK has built in the energy and environment area with expertise and technological prowess achieved by leading SMEs.

The list of 10 SME partners have been recognized for core technologies in the green environment industry, including water process, desalination, waste recycling, CDM and land purification.

Riding on the green initiative worldwide, the environment business has been hailed as a future business model. With limited resources, however, SMEs often find it difficult to go global on their own. With SK Energy’s experience in various projects and SMEs’ advanced technologies are combined with KEITI’s resources, this partnership is expected to create a new eco business model.

“SK Energy will lead the global environmental market and play a pivotal role in low carbon and green growth area,” said Kim Dong-Sup, President of SK Energy Institute of Technology. “With the new partnership, we expect to create an opportunity for win-win, making contributions to the government green growth policy and promoting mutual growth with small businesses.”

At the signing ceremony, SK Energy’s land purification project was presented as a best practice case in large-small business cooperation. SK Energy also unveiled a new mutual growth vision, saying it would become a global solution provider with support from the KEITI and through partnership with SMEs.
